Function
The deg-3 antibody targets a subunit of the non-synaptic neuronal acetylcholine receptor. This subunit is implicated in chemotaxis towards choline. Upon binding choline or acetylcholine, the receptor undergoes a significant conformational change affecting all subunits. This conformational change results in the opening of an ion channel across the plasma membrane.
