Function
AGL62 is a probable transcription factor crucial for regulating early endosperm development. It suppresses cellularization and promotes nuclear proliferation during this stage. Its expression is suppressed by the FERTILIZATION-INDEPENDENT SEED (FIS) polycomb complex at the end of the syncytial phase, preventing premature cellularization.
Tissue Specificity
Expressed in the endosperm but not in the embryo. Detected in young siliques, roots, leaves, stems, young flowers and anthers.
