Target Background

Function
This antibody catalyzes the synthesis of lactosylceramide (LacCer) by transferring galactose from UDP-galactose to glucosylceramide (GlcCer). LacCer serves as the starting point in the biosynthesis of all gangliosides, which are membrane-bound glycosphingolipids crucial for the central nervous system (CNS). These gangliosides play vital roles in neuronal maturation, axonal development, and myelin formation.
