Function
This antibody catalyzes the synthesis of lactosylceramide (LacCer) through the transfer of galactose from UDP-galactose to glucosylceramide (GlcCer). LacCer serves as the precursor in the biosynthesis of all gangliosides (membrane-bound glycosphingolipids), which play crucial roles in the central nervous system (CNS), including neuronal maturation and axonal and myelin formation.
