Function
BBX25 (also known as STH) acts as a negative regulator of seedling photomorphogenesis. It functions as a transcriptional corepressor, alongside BBX24 (STO), inhibiting HY5 activity and consequently downregulating BBX22 expression. This BBX25/BBX24-mediated repression plays a significant role in de-etiolation and the hypocotyl shade avoidance response, with BBX25 and BBX24 exhibiting additive effects in these processes.
