Target Background

Function
This antibody targets CLCN4, a protein known for its strong outwardly rectifying, electrogenic H(+)/Cl(-) exchanger function. CLCN4 mediates the exchange of chloride ions against protons. It is a member of the CLC channel family, which encompasses both chloride channels and proton-coupled anion transporters that exchange chloride or other anions for protons. A characteristic feature of family members functioning as antiporters is the presence of conserved gating glutamate residues.
