Function
Coatomer is a cytosolic protein complex that binds to dilysine motifs and reversibly associates with Golgi non-clathrin-coated vesicles. These vesicles mediate biosynthetic protein transport from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), through the Golgi apparatus, and ultimately to the trans Golgi network. Coatomer complex is essential for budding from Golgi membranes and plays a crucial role in the retrograde Golgi-to-ER transport of dilysine-tagged proteins.
