Function
CHE-10 antibody targets Girdin, a major structural component of the ciliary rootlet. The ciliary rootlet is a cytoskeletal-like structure found in ciliated cells. It originates from the basal body at the proximal end of a cilium and extends proximally toward the cell nucleus. Girdin is essential for cilia integrity and function in sensory neurons. It plays a crucial role in maintaining cilia integrity by modulating the assembly and transport of intraflagellar proteins along the ciliary axoneme. Furthermore, Girdin is required for normal mating behavior and proper responses to environmental and chemical stimuli.
