Function
CCDC67 is a key structural component of the deuterosome, a structure responsible for promoting de novo centriole amplification in multiciliated cells. Deuterosome-mediated centriole amplification occurs in fully differentiated multiciliated cells and can generate over 100 centrioles. CCDC67 is likely sufficient for the specification and formation of the deuterosome's inner core. It interacts with CEP152 and recruits PLK4 to activate centriole biogenesis.
