Target Background

Function
DIR10 proteins are critical for the stereoselective phenoxy radical-coupling reaction in the biosynthesis of lignans, flavonolignans, and alkaloids. This reaction involves the coupling of two molecules of coniferyl alcohol, resulting in the formation of optically active lignans. DIR10 proteins play a pivotal role in plant secondary metabolism by regulating this key process. Additionally, they are involved in the regulation of suberin accumulation in roots.
