Description

Target Protein Overview

Dynamin-3 belongs to the TRAFAC class dynamin-like GTPase superfamily and is involved in:

  • Clathrin-mediated endocytosis

  • Membrane fission during vesicle formation

  • Megakaryocyte maturation

Key features of dynamin-3:

Western Blot Validation

  • Detects ~100 kDa band in lysates from brain, testis, and cultured cells

  • Validated in rodent models (mouse/rat brain tissue)

Functional Studies

  • Used to investigate dynamin-3’s role in:

    • RET signaling pathways

    • MHC class II antigen presentation

    • Neurological disorders (e.g., Optic Atrophy 1)

Limitations and Considerations

  • No diagnostic use: Strictly for research purposes

  • Species specificity: Limited cross-reactivity beyond human, mouse, and rat

  • Storage: Requires -20°C storage with glycerol stabilizers; sensitive to freeze-thaw cycles

Emerging Research Directions

Recent studies highlight dynamin-3’s involvement in:

  • Synaptic vesicle recycling in neurons

  • Platelet production via megakaryocyte cytoplasmic fragmentation

Target Background

Function
This antibody targets DYN3, a component of the cytoplasmic dynein motor complex. Dynein functions in the intracellular retrograde movement of vesicles and organelles along microtubules. It is believed to play a critical role in the proper alignment of the mitotic spindle during cell division in yeast. DYN3 is likely essential for normal cell cycle progression.
