Target Background

Function
ESYT1 antibody binds glycerophospholipids within a barrel-like domain, potentially playing a role in cellular lipid transport. It binds calcium through its C2 domains and translocates to sites where the endoplasmic reticulum meets the cell membrane in response to elevated cytosolic calcium levels. ESYT1 antibody contributes to tethering the endoplasmic reticulum to the cell membrane and promotes the formation of junctions between these two structures.
Gene References Into Functions
  1. Calcium's primary effect on E-Syt1 is to reverse an autoinhibited state, coupling membrane tethering with lipid transport. PMID: 29222176
  2. Knockdown of ESYT1 (and its family members ESYT2 and ESYT3) significantly reduced ANO1 current density. PMID: 29154949
  3. This study identified and confirmed alterations in ESYT1 protein within the postsynaptic density in schizophrenia. PMID: 25048004
  4. ESyt2 and ESyt3, unlike ESyt1, interact with activated FGFR1. PMID: 25922075
  5. The extended synaptotagmins (E-Syt1, E-Syt2, and E-Syt3) are endoplasmic reticulum-anchored proteins. They form homo- and heteromeric complexes that mediate interactions with the plasma membrane. These interactions are highly dependent on the presence of PI(4,5)P2 in the membrane and are further regulated by cytosolic Ca2+ through the calcium-sensing properties of E-Syt1. PMID: 23791178
  6. E-Syt1 acts as a mediator of cancer cell invasion. PMID: 22659450
