Function
This antibody enhances the GTPase-activating protein (GAP) activity of regulator of G protein signaling (RGS) proteins. This activity is involved in the termination of signaling pathways initiated by G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) by accelerating the GTP hydrolysis on the G-alpha subunits, ultimately promoting their inactivation. This antibody likely increases RGS9 GTPase-activating protein (GAP) activity, contributing to the deactivation of G protein signaling triggered by D(2) dopamine receptors. In conjunction with gnb5b, this antibody plays a crucial role in neuronal signaling, particularly in the parasympathetic control of heart rate, but not in the sympathetic control.
