HIRIP3 may play a role in chromatin function and histone metabolism through its interaction with HIRA and histones.

- In vitro studies have demonstrated that HIRIP3 can be phosphorylated by a recombinant form of the serine-threonine kinase CK2. Additionally, HIRIP3 protein has been found to co-purify with CK2 activity. PMID: 17391060
