Function
The VAT1 antibody targets the regulatory subunit of acetohydroxy-acid synthase (AHAS). This subunit is involved in feedback inhibition by branched-chain amino acids, but not in herbicide tolerance.
Gene References Into Functions
Research indicates that VAT1 (AT5g16290) encodes a regulatory subunit of acetohydroxy acid synthase (AHAS), the first committed enzyme in the branched-chain amino acid (BCAA) biosynthesis pathway. PMID: 20497381
Protein Families
Acetolactate synthase small subunit family
Subcellular Location
Plastid, chloroplast.
Tissue Specificity
Expressed in roots in the vascular tissuem in cells around the quiescent center, in floral organs at the tips of young siliques and in the joint region between the silique and the pedicel. Barely detectable in mature leaves or siliques.
