This antibody targets LPAT2, an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) into phosphatidic acid by incorporating an acyl moiety at the 2 position. LPAT2 exhibits a preference for C-18-CoA substrates over C-16-CoA substrates. This enzymatic activity is essential for female gametophyte development, but not for male gametophyte development.
Gene References Into Functions
Research indicates that de novo phospholipid biosynthesis mediated by LPAT2 plays a significant role in root development under phosphate starvation. PMID: 28548242
The gene AtLPAT2 encodes the ubiquitous, abundant, and ER-located LPAT. It is essential for female but not male gametophyte development. PMID: 15772283
Present in roots, leaves, stems, floral buds and siliques (at protein level). Widely expressed. In contrast to LPAT1, it is not expressed at higher level in leaves.
