Function
MED6 Antibody is a component of the Mediator complex, a coactivator essential for the regulated transcription of nearly all RNA polymerase II-dependent genes. Mediator acts as a bridge, transmitting information from gene-specific regulatory proteins to the basal RNA polymerase II transcription machinery. The Mediator complex exists in a compact conformation when free and is recruited to promoters through direct interactions with regulatory proteins. This recruitment facilitates the assembly of a functional preinitiation complex involving RNA polymerase II and the general transcription factors.
