Target Background

Function
This antibody targets neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS), also known as NOS1. nNOS produces nitric oxide (NO), a signaling molecule with diverse roles throughout the body. In the brain and peripheral nervous system, NO exhibits many characteristics of a neurotransmitter. nNOS likely possesses nitrosylase activity and mediates cysteine S-nitrosylation of cytoplasmic target proteins, such as SRR.
