Function
NREP (Neural Regeneration Protein) is a protein that has been implicated in various cellular processes, including neural function, cell differentiation, and tissue regeneration. Studies have shown that ectopic expression of NREP enhances the motility of gliomas and promotes axonal regeneration. Additionally, NREP is involved in cellular differentiation, such as inducing fibroblast differentiation into myofibroblasts and myofibroblast ameboid migration. It also plays a role in regulating lipid-droplet biogenesis, down-regulating the expression of TGFβ1 and TGFβ2 while not affecting TGFβ3 expression. Further research suggests that NREP may be involved in the regulation of alveolar formation.
