Function
This antibody targets D-amino acid oxidase 1 (DAAO-1), an enzyme that catalyzes the oxidative deamination of D-amino acids, particularly D-alanine. It is thought to be responsible for the degradation of dietary D-alanine within the intestine. DAAO-1 exhibits substrate preference, exhibiting higher activity towards D-amino acids with basic and aromatic side chains, followed by those with neutral side chains. The enzyme shows no activity against acidic D-amino acids, L-amino acids, or N-methyl-L-aspartic acid. DAAO-1 may play a role in oviposition and early embryonic development.
