Function
This antibody specifically targets and hydrolyzes acetyl esters within the homogalacturonan regions of pectin. In type I primary cell walls, galacturonic acid residues of pectin can be acetylated at the O-2 and O-3 positions. Reducing the degree of pectin acetylation in vitro alters its physical properties.
