Target Background

Function
The ROD1 antibody targets an enzyme that functions as phosphatidylcholine:diacylglycerol cholinephosphotransferase. This enzyme catalyzes the transfer of the phosphocholine headgroup from phosphatidylcholine (PC) to diacylglycerol. This reaction is crucial for the transfer of 18:1 fatty acid into phosphatidylcholine for desaturation, and also for the reverse transfer of 18:2 and 18:3 fatty acids into the triacylglycerols synthesis pathway.
Gene References Into Functions
  1. The ROD1 enzyme is essential for the efficient metabolism of engineered hydroxy fatty acids in Arabidopsis. PMID: 22371508
  2. The ROD1 enzyme catalyzes the transfer of the phosphocholine headgroup from phosphatidylcholine to diacylglycerol. Mutations in the ROD1 gene result in a 40% reduction in the accumulation of 18:2 and 18:3 fatty acids in seed triacylglycerols. PMID: 19833868
