Target Background

Function
PDR2 antibody targets a protein that plays a critical role in manganese transport into the endoplasmic reticulum. This transport process is essential for maintaining cellular manganese homeostasis. PDR2 is also involved in pollen and root development, influencing protein secretion and transport processes. It functions alongside LPR1 and LPR2 in a pathway that regulates root meristem activity in response to phosphate availability. Under phosphate-limited conditions, PDR2 restricts SHR movement within the root meristem. This is crucial for maintaining SCR expression in the root meristem stem-cell niche and for supporting proximal meristem activity. Additionally, PDR2 can complement the yeast spf1 mutant.
Gene References Into Functions
  1. The LPR1-PDR2 module facilitates, under phosphate-limited conditions, cell-specific apoplastic iron and callose deposition in the meristem and elongation zone of primary roots. PMID: 25898169
