Function
This antibody targets a bifunctional serine/threonine kinase and phosphorylase that plays a crucial role in the dark/light-mediated regulation of PPDK. It facilitates the phosphorylation and dephosphorylation of PPDK, influencing its activity. The direction of the reaction is determined by the relative concentrations of ADP and Pi substrates within the stroma, which fluctuate in response to light and dark conditions. In the dark, the antibody phosphorylates the catalytic intermediate of PPDK (PPDK-HisP), leading to its inactivation. Upon exposure to light, the antibody catalyzes the phosphorolysis reaction, reactivating PPDK. While the kinase function can utilize both Thr and Ser as targets, the phosphorylase function specifically requires threonyl phosphate as a substrate.
