Description

PHO1 Gene Family and PHO1;H9

The PHO1 gene family in Arabidopsis thaliana comprises 11 members (PHO1 and PHO1;H1 to PHO1;H10), all sharing homology with the original PHO1 gene (AT3G23430) .

Key Features of PHO1;H9 (AT3G29060):

  • Structure: Contains hydrophilic N-terminal and membrane-spanning C-terminal domains, characteristic of the PHO1 family .

  • Expression: Restricted to floral tissues, with promoter-GUS assays showing activity in pollen grains .

  • Function: While PHO1 itself facilitates phosphate (Pi) transfer to the xylem, functional redundancy among homologs is limited; PHO1;H9’s role remains uncharacterized .

PHO1 Antibodies

Existing antibodies target the original PHO1 protein (AT3G23430), not PHO1;H9:

Anti-PHO1 Antibody (PHY0730S):

  • Host: Rabbit polyclonal .

  • Specificity: Recognizes Arabidopsis PHO1, with cross-reactivity in Brassica rapa and Brassica napus .

  • Applications: Used to study PHO1 degradation regulated by PHO2 (AT2G33770) under Pi stress .
