Function
PRDE-1 is a nuclear factor essential for the biogenesis of piwi-interacting RNA (piRNA) precursors. Its function is particularly critical for piRNAs derived from loci containing the Ruby motif. PRDE-1 facilitates the recruitment of the transcription factor SNPC-4 to piRNA genomic clusters. Its presence is required for maintaining normal fertility.
