Target Background

Function
The pro-1 Antibody targets a component of the PELP1 complex, which plays a crucial role in the nucleolar stages of 28S rRNA maturation. This complex is also involved in the subsequent nucleoplasmic transit of the pre-60S ribosomal subunit. The pro-1 Antibody is essential for processing ITS2 sequences from rRNA intermediates during 26S rRNA maturation. Furthermore, it is required in somatic cells to promote normal proliferation and prevent the formation of germline tumors.
Gene References Into Functions
  1. Research indicates that PRO-1, similar to its yeast ortholog IPI3, significantly influences rRNA processing. Tumors caused by pro-1 mutations can be suppressed by mutations in ncl-1 or lin-35/Rb, both of which elevate pre-rRNA levels. PMID: 16876152
