Function
Profilin binds to actin, influencing the structure of the cytoskeleton. At high concentrations, profilin inhibits actin polymerization, while at low concentrations, it promotes polymerization. By binding to phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2), profilin inhibits the production of inositol triphosphate (IP3) and diacylglycerol (DG).
