Function
The 26S proteasome plays a crucial role in the ATP-dependent degradation of ubiquitinated proteins. Its regulatory (or ATPase) complex is responsible for ATP dependency and substrate specificity within the 26S complex. This complex may also contribute to the degradation of the microtubule severing protein mei-1.
