Function
PSA3 is a nuclear genome-encoded factor essential for the accumulation of photosystem I (PSI). It functions as a PSI biogenesis factor, collaborating with PYG7 to promote the stable assembly of PSI within the thylakoid membrane. PSA3 likely targets the PsaC subunit primarily. Importantly, it does not appear to be required for the expression of chloroplast genes encoding PSI subunits.
