Target Background
Function
The non-catalytic subunit of queuine tRNA-ribosyltransferase (TGT). This enzyme catalyzes the base exchange of guanine (G) with queuine (Q) at the 34th position (wobble position within the anticodon) of tRNAs containing GU(N) anticodons (specifically tRNA-Asp, -Asn, -His, and -Tyr). This process results in the formation of the hypermodified nucleoside queuosine (7-(((4,5-cis-dihydroxy-2-cyclopenten-1-yl)amino)methyl)-7-deazaguanosine).
