Target Background

Function
NDH-1 facilitates electron transfer from NADH to quinones within the respiratory chain, utilizing FMN and iron-sulfur (Fe-S) centers as intermediates. In this organism, ubiquinone is believed to be the immediate electron acceptor. This redox reaction is coupled to proton translocation; four hydrogen ions are translocated across the cytoplasmic membrane for every two electrons transferred, thereby conserving energy as a proton gradient.
