Product Specs

Form
Lyophilized powder
Note: We will prioritize shipping the format currently in stock. If you have specific format requirements, please specify them during order placement.
Lead Time
Delivery times vary depending on the purchasing method and location. Please consult your local distributor for precise delivery estimates.
Note: All proteins are shipped with standard blue ice packs. Dry ice shipping requires prior arrangement and incurs additional charges.
Notes
Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Store working aliquots at 4°C for up to one week.
Reconstitution
Centrifuge the vial briefly before opening to collect the contents. Reconstitute the protein in sterile, deionized water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL. We recommend adding 5-50% glycerol (final concentration) and aliquoting for long-term storage at -20°C/-80°C. Our standard glycerol concentration is 50% and can be used as a reference.
Shelf Life
Shelf life depends on various factors including storage conditions, buffer components, temperature, and protein stability. Generally, liquid formulations have a 6-month shelf life at -20°C/-80°C, while lyophilized forms have a 12-month shelf life at -20°C/-80°C.
Storage Condition
Upon receipt, store at -20°C/-80°C. Aliquoting is essential for multiple uses. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Target Background

Function

Recombinant Anopheles quadrimaculatus Cytochrome c oxidase subunit 2 (COXII) is a component of cytochrome c oxidase (Complex IV), the terminal enzyme in the mitochondrial electron transport chain. This chain drives oxidative phosphorylation and comprises three multi-subunit complexes: succinate dehydrogenase (Complex II), ubiquinol-cytochrome c oxidoreductase (Complex III), and cytochrome c oxidase (Complex IV). These complexes work cooperatively to transfer electrons from NADH and succinate to molecular oxygen, generating an electrochemical gradient across the inner mitochondrial membrane. This gradient fuels transmembrane transport and ATP synthase activity. Cytochrome c oxidase catalyzes the reduction of oxygen to water. Electrons from reduced cytochrome c in the intermembrane space are transferred via the CuA center of subunit 2 and heme A of subunit 1 to the active site (a binuclear center, BNC) in subunit 1, comprising heme A3 and CuB. The BNC reduces molecular oxygen to two water molecules using four electrons from cytochrome c and four protons from the mitochondrial matrix.
