Product Specs

Form
Lyophilized powder
Note: We prioritize shipping the format currently in stock. However, if you have specific format requirements, please indicate them during order placement. We will fulfill your request if possible.
Lead Time
Delivery time may vary depending on the purchasing method and location. Please consult your local distributors for specific delivery timelines.
Note: All our proteins are shipped with standard blue ice packs by default. If you require dry ice shipping, please inform us in advance. Additional fees will apply.
Notes
Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Store working aliquots at 4°C for up to one week.
Reconstitution
We recommend centrifuging the vial briefly before opening to ensure the contents settle at the bottom. Reconstitute the protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL. We recommend adding 5-50% glycerol (final concentration) and aliquoting for long-term storage at -20°C/-80°C. Our default final glycerol concentration is 50%, which can serve as a reference.
Shelf Life
Shelf life is influenced by several factors, including storage conditions, buffer ingredients, temperature, and the protein's intrinsic stability.
Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20°C/-80°C. The shelf life of lyophilized form is 12 months at -20°C/-80°C.
Storage Condition
Store at -20°C/-80°C upon receipt. Aliquoting is necessary for multiple uses. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Target Background

Function
Epithelial membrane protein 2 (EMP2) acts as a key regulator of cell membrane composition by modulating protein surface expression. It plays a role in regulating processes including cell migration, proliferation, contraction, and adhesion. EMP2 negatively regulates caveolae formation by reducing CAV1 expression and CAV1 amount through enhanced lysosomal degradation. It facilitates surface trafficking and the formation of lipid rafts bearing GPI-anchor proteins. EMP2 regulates surface expression of MHC1 and ICAM1 proteins, increasing susceptibility to T-cell mediated cytotoxicity. It regulates the plasma membrane expression of the integrin heterodimers ITGA6-ITGB1, ITGA5-ITGB3, and ITGA5-ITGB1, thereby modulating cell-matrix adhesion. EMP2 also regulates various processes through PTK2. It regulates blood vessel endothelial cell migration and angiogenesis by controlling VEGF protein expression through PTK2 activation. EMP2 regulates cell migration and contraction through PTK2 and SRC activation. It regulates focal adhesion density, F-actin conformation, and cell adhesion capacity by interacting with PTK2. EMP2 positively regulates cell proliferation. It plays a role during cell death and cell blebbing. EMP2 promotes angiogenesis and vasculogenesis through induction of VEGFA via a HIF1A-dependent pathway. Additionally, it participates in embryo implantation by regulating surface trafficking of the integrin heterodimer ITGA5-ITGB3. EMP2 may play a role in glomerular filtration.
