Produced in Escherichia coli (E. coli), ensuring high yield and scalability .

Functional Role in Mitochondrial Complex I

MT-ND3 is a core subunit of NADH-ubiquinone oxidoreductase (Complex I), essential for:

  • Electron Transport: Catalyzes electron transfer from NADH to ubiquinone in the respiratory chain .

  • Pathological Relevance: Mutations in MT-ND3 are linked to mitochondrial disorders such as Leigh syndrome and Parkinson’s disease .

Research Applications

  • Enzyme Activity Assays: Used to study Complex I dysfunction in mitochondrial diseases .

  • Structural Studies: Facilitates crystallography and cryo-EM analyses due to high purity .

  • ELISA Development: Available for immunological assays (e.g., antibody validation) .

Quality Control and Stability

  • Validation: Confirmed via SDS-PAGE and functional assays .

  • Storage Stability: Maintains activity for >1 year at -80°C when aliquoted .

Product Specs

Form
Lyophilized powder
Note: We prioritize shipping the format currently in stock. However, if you have specific format requirements, please indicate them during order placement. We will fulfill your request if possible.
Lead Time
Delivery time may vary depending on the purchase method and location. Please consult your local distributors for precise delivery times.
Note: All our proteins are shipped with standard blue ice packs by default. If dry ice shipping is required, please inform us in advance. Additional fees will apply.
Notes
Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Store working aliquots at 4°C for up to one week.
Reconstitution
We recommend briefly centrifuging this vial before opening to ensure the contents are at the bottom. Reconstitute the protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL. We recommend adding 5-50% glycerol (final concentration) and aliquoting for long-term storage at -20°C/-80°C. Our default final glycerol concentration is 50%, serving as a reference point.
Shelf Life
Shelf life is influenced by various factors, including storage conditions, buffer components, storage temperature, and the intrinsic stability of the protein.
Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20°C/-80°C. Lyophilized form has a shelf life of 12 months at -20°C/-80°C.
Storage Condition
Store at -20°C/-80°C upon receipt; aliquoting is essential for multiple uses. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Tag Info
Tag type will be determined during the manufacturing process.
The tag type is determined during production. If you have a specific tag type preference, please inform us, and we will prioritize developing it.

Target Background

Function
Core subunit of the mitochondrial membrane respiratory chain NADH dehydrogenase (Complex I), believed to be part of the minimal assembly required for catalysis. Complex I functions in transferring electrons from NADH to the respiratory chain. The immediate electron acceptor for the enzyme is thought to be ubiquinone.
Protein Families
Complex I subunit 3 family
Subcellular Location
Mitochondrion membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein.
