Target Background

Function
NDH-1, as a NADH-quinone oxidoreductase, facilitates electron transfer from NADH to quinones within the respiratory chain, utilizing FMN and iron-sulfur (Fe-S) centers as intermediates. In this organism, ubiquinone is believed to be the primary electron acceptor. This redox reaction is coupled to proton translocation; four protons are translocated across the cytoplasmic membrane for every two electrons transferred, thus conserving energy as a proton gradient.
