Function
F(1)F(0) ATP synthase synthesizes ATP from ADP using a proton or sodium gradient. This enzyme comprises two domains: the F(1) catalytic core (extramembranous) and the F(0) membrane proton channel. These are connected by a central and peripheral stalk. ATP synthesis in the F(1) catalytic domain is coupled to proton translocation via the central stalk's rotary mechanism. This protein is a component of the F(0) channel, forming part of the peripheral stalk that links F(1) and F(0).
