Function
REV is a transcription factor likely involved in regulating the differentiation of interfascicular fibers (cortical cells) and secondary xylem within inflorescence stems. It is essential for the initiation of lateral shoot meristems (LSMs) and flower meristems (FMs). Moreover, REV may play a role in determining vascular patterning and organ polarity. It directly regulates the expression of AGO10, ZPR1, ZPR2, ZPR3, and ZPR4. REV is crucial for regulating adaxial-abaxial polarity and leaf axial patterning.
