Target Background

Function
RMR1 plays a crucial role in the transport of vacuolar proteins. It likely functions as a sorting receptor for protein trafficking to the protein storage vacuole (PSV) by binding to the C-terminal vacuolar sorting determinant (VSD) of vacuolar-sorted proteins.
Gene References Into Functions
  1. Analysis of transgenic A. thaliana lines expressing AtRMR1 and AtRMR2 promoters indicates that the expression of these two receptors exhibits partial overlap in certain organs and tissues. This suggests that AtRMR1 and AtRMR2 are not functionally redundant but may interact and participate in the same cellular process in tissues where their expression overlaps. PMID: 29241571
  2. Research suggests that Arabidopsis thaliana receptor homology region transmembrane domain ring H2 motif protein (AtRMR1) functions as the sorting receptor for phaseolin, facilitating its trafficking to the protein storage vacuole. PMID: 16115960
