SCAR2 is involved in the regulation of actin and microtubule organization. It is a component of the WAVE complex, which activates the Arp2/3 complex. SCAR2 plays a role in regulating trichome branch positioning and expansion.
Gene References Into Functions
ITB1 encodes a plant Scar/WAVE homolog called SCAR2. Loss of function of ITB1/SCAR2 results in actin and microtubule defects. [IRREGULAR TRICHOME BRANCH1] [ITB1] PMID: 16006582
Expressed in expanding cotyledons, expanding leaves and expanding siliques containing developing embryos. Lower expression, sometimes not detected, in unopened flower buds and in matures leaves.
