Target Background
Function
SERP1 interacts with target proteins during their translocation into the lumen of the endoplasmic reticulum. It protects unfolded target proteins against degradation during ER stress. SERP1 may facilitate glycosylation of target proteins after ER stress resolution. Furthermore, it may modulate the use of N-glycosylation sites on target proteins.

- A study demonstrated that SERP1 expression levels were significantly upregulated in human pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) tissues. This upregulation was positively correlated with advanced clinical stage and shorter overall survival time (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS). Downregulating SERP1 expression promoted PDAC cell apoptosis and inhibited NF-kappaB activation, potentially by upregulating SRPRB expression. PMID: 28902358
