Function
SNX14 plays a crucial role in maintaining normal neuronal excitability and synaptic transmission. It is believed to be involved in various stages of intracellular trafficking. Notably, SNX14 is essential for autophagosome clearance, potentially by facilitating the fusion of lysosomes with autophagosomes. This protein binds phosphatidylinositol 3,5-bisphosphate (PtdIns(3,5)P2), a key component of late endosomes/lysosomes, but does not bind phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate (PtdIns(3P)).
