Target Background

Function

TRAPPC4 is a core component of the TRAPP complexes, functioning as a guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) for Rab1 GTPase. It plays a crucial role in vesicular transport from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi apparatus and in autophagy. Furthermore, it may be involved in postsynaptic membrane trafficking in dendrites.

Gene References Into Functions
  • Overexpression of TRAPPC4 has been shown to enhance colorectal carcinogenesis. PMID: 23625650
  • Synbindin, which interacts with TRAPPC4, contributes to malignant gastric cancer (GC) phenotypes by activating ERK on the Golgi apparatus. This suggests synbindin as a potential biomarker and therapeutic target for GC. PMID: 24104608
  • Studies indicate that TRAPPC4 regulates cell proliferation and apoptosis in colorectal cancer (CRC) through its interaction with ERK2, phosphorylation of ERK1/2, and modulation of pERK1/2 subcellular localization, ultimately activating relevant signaling pathways. PMID: 21826244
  • The three-dimensional structure of human synbindin, characterized by a longin domain and an atypical PDZ domain, has been elucidated. PMID: 18466758
