Target Background
Function
This antibody specifically targets the N1 position of guanosine-37 in various cytoplasmic and mitochondrial tRNAs. Notably, methylation is independent of the nature of the nucleoside 5' to the target nucleoside. This methylation represents the initial step in the biosynthesis of wybutosine (yW), a modified base located adjacent to the anticodon of tRNAs. Wybutosine is essential for accurate decoding during protein synthesis.
