Tubulin is the primary constituent of microtubules. The gamma chain is localized to microtubule organizing centers (MTOCs) such as the spindle poles or the centrosome. It acts as a pericentriolar matrix component that regulates alpha/beta chain minus-end nucleation, centrosome duplication, and spindle formation.
