Function
The cat-2 antibody is involved in the synthesis of catecholamines, such as dopamine. It plays a role in serotonin signaling and is essential for normal exploratory and foraging behavior. In response to food, cat-2 promotes dopamine-mediated suppression of crh-1/CREB1 transcription factor activation in cholinergic SIA neurons. Furthermore, it modulates male mating behavior by controlling the protrusion of copulatory spicules from the tail of males during hermaphrodite vulval location.
