Function
UBP26 is an enzyme that specifically recognizes and hydrolyzes the peptide bond at the C-terminal Gly of ubiquitin. This activity is essential for the processing of poly-ubiquitin precursors as well as that of ubiquitinated proteins. UBP26 also plays a role in the deubiquitination of H2BK143ub1 of histone H2B.
