Target Background

Function
UGT72E2 is an enzyme involved in the O-glucosylation of monolignols, which are alcohol monomers of lignin. It catalyzes the following reactions:

• Glucosylation of coniferyl alcohol to form coniferyl alcohol 4-O-glucoside.
• Glucosylation of sinapyl alcohol to form sinapyl alcohol 4-O-glucoside.
• Glucosylation of coniferyl aldehyde to form coniferyl aldehyde 4-O-glucoside.
• Glucosylation of sinapyl aldehyde to form sinapyl aldehyde 4-O-glucoside.

UGT72E2 exhibits low activity with sinapate and ferulate as substrates.
Gene References Into Functions
