Function
BSK1 is a serine/threonine kinase that plays a crucial role in plant development and immunity. It acts as a positive regulator of brassinosteroid (BR) signaling, functioning downstream of the receptor kinase BRI1. BSK1 mediates signal transduction from BRI1 by serving as a substrate for BRI1. Its role extends beyond BR signaling, as it also functions as a positive regulator of plant immunity. BSK1 may be involved in the regulation of pattern-triggered immunity (PTI) downstream of the flagellin receptor FLS2. It exhibits kinase activity in vitro, which is essential for its function in innate immunity.
