Function
The yfcS antibody targets the yfcS protein, a component of the yfcOPQRSUV fimbrial operon. This operon is believed to play a role in adhesion to various surfaces, potentially facilitating colonization in specific environmental niches. Studies have shown that yfcS enhances adhesion to eukaryotic T24 bladder epithelial cells, even in the absence of fim genes. This suggests that yfcS may contribute to adhesion independently or in conjunction with other fimbrial proteins.
